Essence of Creation
When in doubt, follow the players handbook 1. A character made strictly by the book will be perfectly legal, and we can add my house rules to it after the fact.
I use a few house rules for DnD 4th to try to make more fleshed out characters.
- All characters start with a craft or profession skill of their choice trained at first level for free. This can be as general (Smithing) or specific (Daggersmithing) as you like and I will adjust rolls accordingly.
- Alignment is not a black and white force in the world, and any character who doesn’t have an in game power tied to their alignment does not need to choose one. If you do have an in game power tied to your alignment you need only follow the principles of that alignment, you do not need to be the generic concept of that alignment.
- When you reach level 2 you can swap out any feats, skills, powers, etc. so you can change anything you dislike about your character. Normally you are limited to swapping one thing each level.
